A Summer Meditative Journey Towards Renewal: Healing the Places of Darkness and Exile
with Yocheved Sheila Katz
Tuesday evenings, July 7-28th - 7:00PM - 8:30PM
Temple Beth Israel
25 Harvard St, Waltham
(617) 965-6970
What better time to deepen our spiritual practice than with the Jewish holidays of summertime! Summertime Jewish holidays may sound like an oxymoron but they present a unique space for healing. There are the three weeks of mourning from middle of Tamuz through Tisha b'Av followed by 7 weeks of consolation that prepare us for renewal during the High Holidays. The summer holidays give us the safety and structure to delve into and emerge from the places of darkness and exile in our souls and in the world. Join us for a 4 week course using the contemplative practices of silent meditation and chant to examine the spiritual challenges and blessings offered to us at the intersection between this moment in the Jewish calendar and this moment in our lives. Scholarships available: contact office@nishmathayyim.org.
Cost:
- Temple Beth Israel members: $60 before June 29th, $80, after
- Non-Members of TBI: $80 before June 29th, $100 after

What is Jewish Meditation?
Seth Castleman
"Jewish meditation, at its essence, is a path towards living a healthy, happy, and righteous life. As we awaken our conscious attention, we are driven less by habit and reactivity and more by our deeper intentions. It is a new lens of perception, opening the door to infinite possibilities, for ourselves and for the world."
