VISION
Mission
Our mission is to cultivate and support Jewish meditation and contemplative practices in New England. Through collaborations with synagogues and other Jewish institutions, and with programs for individuals from all Jewish backgrounds, Nishmat Hayyim is a resource to the greater Jewish community. Our aim is to support Jewish spiritual life; to provide accessible gateways into Judaism; and to cultivate better physical and emotional health and well being in a Jewish context.
Teachings
Teachings and practices draw on the rich tradition of Jewish texts and traditions from the Torah, Talmud, and Hassidut, as well as contemporary meditation techniques, and the experience of daily life.
History
Nishmat Hayyim was founded as a resource for Jewish contemplative practices in Greater Boston and throughout New England. For ten years, Rabbi Moshe Waldoks saw the need for a Jewish meditation center, and in April 2005, his vision was realized when Nishmat Hayyim, "Breath of Life," started its first programs in Brookline, MA.
